The history of the Tver State Medical Academy opens up in 1902 when the courses for dental students were arranged. In 1936 the Leningrad Dental Institute was founded. In 1954 by the decision of the Soviet government the Institute was transferred from Leningrad to the city of Kalinin. In 1986 the Institute was awarded the Order of People's Friendship. In 1994 after the renaming of Kalinin to Tver, the Institute was also renamed and got the status of the Academy.
For
more than 100 years Tver State Medical Academy has been playing a
leading role in the development of medical science and training of
medical practitioners and scientists. It is always among the top 10
Medical Educational Establishments according to the annual official
rating of the 48 Russian Medical Educational Establishments.
Today it is the largest medical scientific, research and
educational centre, noted for its extensive clinical and laboratory base
and a brilliant teaching staff. The Academy possesses a complex of
buildings designed for practical classes, lectures, laboratory studies,
research work and auxiliary services During the whole period of its
history the main goal of the Academy has been training specialists of a
high qualification, having fundamental theoretical knowledge, practical
skills in their specialties. The principal mission of the Academy is to
preserve, develop and disseminate its cherished values. According to the
WHO international rating Tver State Medical Academy takes the 23rd
place in the world and 3rd position in Russia in the Medical Studies for
foreign students. The Academy develops different contacts in the realm
of medical education, physicians training, scientific research,
methodical and informational exchange with many institutions of Russian
Federation and other countries.

There are four hostels which can accommodate 1840 students
Two of them are flat type i.e. with attached bathroom, toilet and kitchen.
The hostels are centrally heated (air-conditioned).
Hostels are fully furnished.
The basic system is two or three students in one room.
Students are provided with full bedding.
Separate arrangements for boys and girls.
All the hostels are well guarded with police security.
Bed linen is changed once in a week and hostel is cleaned once everyday.
Tver State Medical Academy is recognized, in accordance to law, by the Medical and Dental Councils of India i.e. after graduating from this Academy, candidates are eligible to work in any government or private hospital in India. There are currently about 800 Indian students studying at the Academy, 250 of them are girls, 60 doctors (PG students). Every year about 180 Indian students get degrees from the Academy. Indian doctors who passed out from the Tver State Medical Academy are successfully working in government and private hospitals around the whole world.
Right to register and the Privilege to practice in India as per MCI Act 1956
According to the Section 13(3) of the Medical Council of India Act, 1956, the medical qualifications granted by the medical institutions outside India, which are included in Part II of the Third Schedule are recognized medical qualification under Section 2(h) meaning, thereby that anyone who obtains a medical degree from the recognized institution and completes the requisite internship is entitled for registration with the Medical Council of India with the consequent right for medical practice in India in accordance with Section 27 of the Medical Council of India Act, 1956.
Eligibility for admission in a Russian medical college
The minimum eligibility requirements for admission in a Russian Medical college are:
10+2 or
Higher Secondary equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and
English with 50% marks aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Culture & Sports
Every year ISA celebrating all the Indian & south Asian festivals like Holi, Diwali, Durgapuja, Baishakhi, Eid etc.Except this Annual cultural program is also organized every year.
Academic session
In Russia,
the academic session starts in September. There are two semesters in an
academic year, September to January and February to June. The first
semester exams are held in January and the second term exams are held in
June. You can enjoy two vacations in an academic calendar – one in
January-February and the other in July-August.
